  2. What is the department required minimum TOEFL & IELTS scores?

    A TOEFL score of at least 560 on the paper and pencil test or 220 on the computer based test is the minimum required for applicants to graduate programs at UCLA.

    For the internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL iBT), the following are minimum passing scores for each section and the minimum total passing score:

    • Writing: 25
    • Speaking: 24
    • Reading: 21
    • Listening: 17
    • Total minimum passing score: 87

    An IELTS overall band score of at least 7.0 is the minimum required.

  3. What is the department required minimum GPA?

    UCLA requires an minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 overall. For applications with GPA below 3.0, admissions is possible, but requires an exception request. Contact us if you have any questions.

  4. Are the GRE General and GRE Subject Test Scores required for admissions?

    We understand there have been lots of questions and difficulties in getting access to this exam, so our admissions committee has agreed that GRE Scores **may be submitted but ARE NOT REQUIRED**

    • If GRE scores are submitted:
      1. Results should be from a test taken within 3-4 years prior to application
      2. Institution Code/Department Code is 4837 / 0222
      3. Please send a copy of your original test score to us as soon as you receive it.

  5. When is the deadline to apply for FALL 2027

    All application materials and online submission must be received and completed by December 1st, 2026. No exceptions allowed. The documents required are listed as follow:

  6. Is the Program CAMPEP accredited? What do I need to do to meet CAMPEP requirements?

    Yes, the program is CAMPEP accredited (See http://campep.org/campeplstgrad.asp). The PBM program does have three accredited tracks (Medical Imaging, Molecular Imaging and Theranostics - MIT, and Therapeutic Medical Physics - TMP) and one unaccredited track (Molecular and Cellular Oncology - MCO).

    For the accredited tracks, students can be issued a certificate that they meet CAMPEP requirements if they meet the following:

    1. A BS or graduate degree in Physics,  or a BS or MS in a related field, but with an additional minor in physics (or the course equivalent of a minor in physics, which CAMPEP has described as three upper division physics courses).
    2. Completion of six courses required by CAMPEP (PB MED 200A, PB MED 203, PB MED 204, PB MED 205, PB MED 216 and PB MED 218).
